Lakeside Viking Band! - Calendar is at www.lakesideband.org
Remember that when you get an instrument repaired, it is important to get
a borrowed or rented one for the duration of the repair so that your
student does not miss any of the quality instruction available!!
All
State Jazz Band Auditions
All-State Jazz Band auditions are coming up.
Interested students need only to bring in $18 to the band office, telling me
when they do so that I can put them on the list. Auditions
are October 15 at Lakeside.
District
Honor Band Auditions
District Honor Band auditions are in December. The $18 for those auditions
is due before October 1st. Same deal as above.
DeKalb
Youth Symphony Orchestra
Attached is the audition info for DYSO, which rehearses at Lakeside on
Tuesday nights. It’s a great group, and everyone can benefit from the
experience.
Donation
Request
- We have recently sent home a request for a $60 donation from all band
members. This takes the place of a THIRD fundraiser in the fall, so please
help us reach our goal.
Turn
In Those Forms!
- All non-marching band students need to turn in the forms handed out
in class by September 5th. Please reply to this E-Mail to request an
electronic copy of this packet if your child didn’t bring it home.
We
Need Your Email Address
- We currently have 175 band students in 4 classes. It is VERY important
that everyone be on our E-Mail list so that we can all communicate
effectively. Please send this to anyone you think might not be on the list,
and encourage everyone to respond to this E-Mail if they wish to be added to
our list.
Fall
Concert November 6
Our
Fall concert is November 6th. The concert dress code is as follows. (this is
part of their grade at concerts!!):
Gentlemen
Concert Attire
ALL Gentlemen MUST wear a
tuxedo to concerts. (black bowtie and cummerbund). Attached is the order
information for Tuxes on-site at LHS. You are, of course, welcome to
purchase one anywhere. K&G and Value City both have affordable Tuxedos
(cheaper that what you see attached, but not as good quality).
Ladies Concert Attire
Long (floor length) black skirt, black pants (no denim), or black dress
Long-sleeved black blouse (to the wrists).
Simple jewelry
No leather, vinyl, or otherwise shiny pants
Black dress shoes. No open-toes
shoes or sandals please.
Black stockings or socks. No
sheer hose.
